It’s mostly because livejournal just works faster on my computer than wordpress, and there’s more people there. And the tags system is familiar to me, I already know how to use it, haha.
Secret Game is the introductory track to their 4th album The Secret Code. It’s quite….different. Took me a while to get used to it, but now I love it. Many misinterpreted a few lines in the song, and everyone wound up thinking the song is perverted, haha. It actually gives me a mental image of an old-fashioned spy movie or something. If anyone’s ever seen the beginning movie to their T-concert DVD, that’s what this song is about.
I adore this song. Puhu äänellä jonka kuulen (Speak in a voice I can hear) is about a person who seems very confused about what they feel in general. They’re feeling bad, but can’t put it into words. The singer is saying that person needs to speak up, or speak in a way that everyone would understand, so they could help them (at least, that’s my interpretation). From their Kaunis minä -album.
Mustaa Kahvia (Black Coffee) is about a person’s feelings post break-up. Everything seems a little empty and bitter (just like plain black coffee). From her debut album Ihmisten Edessä.
I love Jenni Vartiainen, even though she’s not a suberb singer. Her songs have this certain quality that I really like. Ihmisten Edessä (In Front of People) is about girl love, and no, she’s not lesbian. I actually think that the lyrics are really sweet, they’re kind of romantic. The song can be found from her debut album of the same name.
TVXQ did this little project in early 2008, where they released 5 singles within a week from each other. TRICK -singles. Each single included a solo song from the featured member. In Close to You’s case (4th of the TRICK-singles), Yunho was the lead singer for Close to You, and Crazy Life was his solo song. Later on they meshed parts from their songs (not the solo songs) to create the first track of their T album.
I have a love-hate relationship with this song. I love the lyrics, they have so much attitude, but I hate the parts where Kuu sings in English (her accent sounds less than stellar here). But the beat is good, and I really like the parts she sings in Japanese. My translation isn’t very smooth because of the amount of English in the song. It’s difficult to join those two languages, haha. Bling Bling Bling can be found from her 7th album TRICK.

Once again I didn’t translate word to word, but more like the general feel of the song. Joyful is really sweet, and I get the feeling that it’s sung from a man’s point of view? Can be found on her 7th album TRICK.
Force sounds like it belongs in the military, but the lyrics are about fighting against conforming society. If you’re proud of what you are so far, don’t give it up for the sake of others. Have courage to be who you are. I twisted around some of the English phrases in the song, so that the translation would flow better. This track is from their 4th album The Secret Code.
I just want to say that I didn’t realize I hadn’t updated this log for almost two weeks! It’s mainly because I lost my translation muses for a while there. I took like one look at Japanese text and I didn’t want to even start translating it. Same thing with Finnish, which is a little ridiculous because I could translate Finnish songs in a matter of minutes.
But I’m back for now, even if it’s just posting revised versions of my older translations. We all gotta start somewhere, right? I’ll be pretty dead the next two-three weeks or so. Things should pick up at the end of May, after school’s ended. But then….I’ll be in China for a couple of weeks in June, so that’s another hiatus from me xD
Oh well. Expect this blog to be filled slowly but surely.
